Note: Thickness shall be measured at any point within the bottom of the pans except for an area to include the bottom corner radius and up to 1 inch (2.54 cm) from the tangent of this radius and the bottom.
All thicknesses shall be minimums.
1/- Capacity tolerance shall be + 15 percent, - 5 percent.
2/- Minimum thickness for drawn pans. Spun pans shall have an initial minimum thickness of 0.081 inch (2.1 mm)
3/- Minimum thickness for drawn pans. Spun pans shall have an initial minimum thickness of 0.100 inch (2.5 mm)
3.2.2 Pan handles. The pans shall have two loop handles located diametrically opposite each other. The handles shall be attached by rivets, spot welding or continuous welding. The pan handles shall be made from aluminum, nickel-chrome plated steel, stainless steel, or nickel plated steel. The diametrically opposed pan handles will be located in the upper 25% of the pan height. The size 1 double boiler may have a single long handle with a minimum thickness of 0.045 inch (1.1 mm) and minimum width of 1 inch (2.54 cm). The ends of the handle shall be formed to fit flush against the pan body.
3.2.3 Covers. The inner pan shall be provided with a cover. The cover for the inner pan shall be formed seamless from a piece of aluminum. The covers for the size 1, 2, and 3 pans shall be provided with a strap handle or plastic knob attached in the center.
3.3 Marking. The pans shall be marked with the manufacturer’s name, trade name, or trademark of such known character that the source of the pan may be readily determined.
3.4 NSF International compliance. Prior to approval of first shipment, the contractor shall submit to the contracting officer or his authorized representative satisfactory evidence that the items offered meet the applicable requirements of NSF International Standard No.2.
