fabricated of zinc coated carbon steel, galvanized steel, cast iron, or aluminum alloy. Any necessary supports shall be welded or riveted to the ring(s). When specified, the overall height of the mixing bowl stand, including casters, shall be between 26 and 28-5/8 inches (6.2). Also, when specified, the inside diameter of the mixing bowl stand shall be 19 ± 1/8 inches and the reducing ring 16-1/4 ± 1/8 inches (see 6.2).
2.1.1 Casters. The stand shall be provided with four heavy duty removable swivel casters, rubber or neoprene tired, with a wheel diameter of not less than four inches. Two casters, diagonally opposite each other, shall be equipped with brakes.
2.1.2 Brakes. In lieu of casters with brakes, the unit may be provided with a foot operated brake with a foot hinged foot plate positioned so that pressure by the foot shall prevent the stand from moving. The brake shall be designed to swing upward when not in use.
2.1.3 Bowl stand adapters. A bowl stand adapter (s)/reducing ring (s) shall be provided by the contractor if needed to accommodate all sizes or if specified (see 2.1). The adapter shall be fabricated of zinc coated carbon steel, galvanized steel, or cast aluminum. The outside diameter of the reducing ring shall fit the upper ring of the stand and shall be supported in place by three equally spaced lugs or clips welded or riveted to the reducing ring.
2.2 Standard compliance. The stand and casters shall conform with the applicable requirements of NSF International Standard No. 2 (see 3.2).
2.3 Identification marking. The stand shall be permanently and legibly marked with the manufacturers name, trade name, or trade mark. Use of “stick-on” or removable labels is prohibited.
2.4 Workmanship. The finished product shall be complete, clean, and free of fabrication marks, scratches, dents, sharp edges, sharp corners, burrs, slivers, or visible evidence of rust. Rivets, when used, shall be tight and the rivet heads and peened ends shall be round and concentric and in full contact with the joined metal surfaces. There shall be no empty rivet holes.
