2.2 Bristles. The grease brush bristles shall be natural color hog bristles or synthetic filament fibers as specified (see 5.2). The contractor shall certify that the hog bristles of synthetic filaments are safe for repeated use in food service applications.
2.3 Ferrule. The ferrule on the grease brush shall be non-combustible, and non-corrosive.
2.4 Handle. The grease brush shall have a laminated wood or plastic handle. Use of nails, staples or tacks is prohibited when fastening handle to the ferrule.
2.5 Identification marking. The handle of each brush shall be permanently and legibly marked with the manufacturer’s identification marking. Use of a “stick-on” or removable label is prohibited.
3. QUALITY ASSURANCE
3.1 Certification. The contractor shall certify, and maintain substantiating evidence, that the product offered meets the salient characteristics and requirements of this Commercial Item Description, and that the product conforms to the producer’s own drawings, specifications, standards, and quality assurance practices. The Government reserves the right to require proof of such conformance prior to first delivery and thereafter as may be otherwise provided for under the provisions of the contract.
3.2 Metric products. Products manufactured to metric dimensions will be considered on an equal basis with those manufactured using inch-pound units, providing they fall within the tolerance specified using conversion tables contained in the latest revision of Federal Standard 376, and all other requirements of this document are met. If a product is manufactured to metric dimensions and those dimensions exceed the tolerances specified in the inch/pound units, a request should be made to the contracting officer to determine if the product is acceptable. The contracting officer has the option of accepting or rejecting the product.
3.3 Regulatory requirements. The offeror/contractor is encouraged to use recovered materials to the maximum extent practicable, in accordance with paragraph 23.403 of the Federal Acquisition Regulation (FAR) .
3.4 End item examination. The contractor is responsible for assuring that the product offered conforms to the stated requirements. Sample inspection shall be in accordance with MIL-STD-105. The inspection level shall be II. The sample unit shall be one complete end item. The finding of any of the following defects shall be cause for rejection of the lot.
