Quality assurance.
The contractor is responsible for assuring that the items furnished to the Government conform to all requirements specified in referenced documents and herein. The contractor shall furnish a certificate of compliance certifying that the items being furnished comply with the stated requirements. The Government reserves the right to inspect the items o verify the certification and may reject any item or lot items when it is determined that:
a. Any required component or design characteristic is missing or not as specified herein.
b. Any aspects of design, construction, assembly, function or finish is not in accordance with good commercial practice.
c. Packaging, packing and marking is not as specified.
Packaging
A. Commercial packaging. Each rack shall be packaged in accordance with commercial practice.
B. Commercial packing. Each rack shall be packed in a manner to insure carrier acceptance and safe delivery at destination at the lowest transportation rate for such supplies. Containers (when applicable) shall comply with the National Motor Freight Classification or Uniform Freight Classification, as applicable.
C. Export packaging. Each rack shall have the casters disassembled. The casters shall be packaged in a weather-resistant fiberboard box constructed and closed in accordance with Method IV as specified in PPP-B-636. Each rack shall be cleaned, preserved and cushioned to afford protection against corrosion, deterioration and physical damage during shipment and storage.
D. Export packing. Each rack shall be packed flat in a snug-fitting wood-cleated plywood box conforming to overseas type, style A or J, grade B, type 2 load of PPP-B-601 or nailed wood box conforming to class 2, style 2 or 4, grade B, type 2 load of PPP-B-621. The rack and packaged casters shall be immobilized within the box. Each shipping container shall be closed and strapped in accordance with the appendix of PPP-B-601 or PPP-B-621, as applicable.
E. Marking of interior boxes and shipping containers (commercial and export). Commercial marking for interior boxes and shipping containers is acceptable provided the following information is included:
