3. SALIENT CHARACTERISTICS
3.1 Design and construction. The egg whips shall be fabricated from corrosion-resisting steel, type 302 or 304 conforming to ASTM A 167. The egg whip shall have the specified number of bow wires fastened to a tubular metal handle or molded plastic handle. The minimum space between the bow and wires at the handle shall be 1/16 inch. The handle shall be sealed at the end opposite the bow wires and at the point of entry of the bow wires with non-toxic solder or epoxy in order to prevent accumulation of foreign material. The handles shall be minimum of 4 inches in length and 1 inch in diameter.
