1. SCOPE.
1.1 Scope. This commercial item description covers aluminum and corrosion-resisting saucepans.
2. CLASSIFICATION.
2.1 Classification. The saucepans shall be of the following types, styles, and sizes, as specified.
Type I- Corrosion-resisting steel
Style A- Deep (straight walls)
Size 1- 2 quart (1.9 L)
Size 2- 5 quart (4.7 L)
Size 3- 7-1/2 quart (7.1 L)
Type II- Aluminum
Style A- Deep (straight walls)
Size 4- 2-1/2 quart (2.4 L)
Size 5- 8-1/2 quart (8.0 L)
Style B- Tapered walls
Size 6- 1-1/2 quart (1.4 L)
Size 7- 3-3/4 quart (3.5 L)
3. SALIENT CHARACTERISTICS
3.1 Dimensions. The saucepans shall be of the following sizes listed in tables I and II. All dimensions are listed in inches except capacity which is listed in quarts. A table of metric equivalents is located in section 7. The thickness shall be measured at any point within the bottom of the pans except for an area to include the edge (corner) and up to one inch from the edge (corner). The capacity tolerance shall be plus 20 percent, minus 5 percent. All other dimensions, unless otherwise specified, shall be minimums.
3.2 Material.
3.2.1 Type I pans. Type I pans, including handles and covers, shall be made from type 300 series corrosion-resisting steel.
