The handle shall be tubular and fabricated of corrosion-resisting steel, braes, carbon steel, plastic, or other material in accordance with NSF International standards.
3.1.2 Item 2- Egg Beater. The egg beater shall be constructed from metal die cast components. Ferrous parts shall be nickel or chromium plated. The egg beater shall be hand operated and consist of double agitators which are operated by a hand-crank with drive and pinion gears. The egg beater shall have a handle at the top of the frame for grasping while operating the hand crank. The double agitators shall have a minimum of four wings each. A suitable plastic may be used for the pinion gear and bushings. The overall length of the egg beater shall be from 10-7/8 to 13-1/2 inches (276.2 to 342.9 mm). The beater shall operate smoothly without gear or pinion crumbling, deformation, slipping, or binding.
3.1.3 Item 3- Dredger, Kitchen. The kitchen dredger may be fabricated from either aluminum or corrosion-resisting steel. The body shall be formed seamless from a single piece of aluminum, 0.028 inch minimum thickness (0.71 mm), or corrosion-resisting steel, 0.022 inch minimum thickness (0.56 mm). The top edge of the body shall be threaded to accommodate the cover. The cover shall be made from the same material as the body and may be up to two gauges thinner than the body. The cover shall be threaded to match the body and shall contain 100 holes (minimum) with a minimum diameter of 0.060 inch (1.5 mm). The body shall include a handle of the same thickness. The height of the dredger shall be 3-7/8 inches + 1/4 inches (98.4 mm + 6.35 mm) and the diameter shall be 2-7/8 inches, + 1/8 inch, - 5/16 inch (73.0 mm, + 3.18 mm, - 7.94 mm) . Aluminum dredges shall have a bright anodized finish and corrosion-resisting steel dredges shall have a polished finish.
3.1.4 Item 4- Sieve, Flour. The flour sieve shall have a top inside diameter of 16 inches + 1/8 inch (406.4 mm + 3.2 mm) and inside depth of 3-1/2 inches + 1/8 inch (88.9 mm + 3.2 mm). The body shall be formed from 0.064 inch minimum (1.6 mm) thick aluminum and shall have vertical sides with rolled groves. The bottom shall be blanked out and shall be covered with 14-mesh screen cloth (aluminum, tinned steel, or corrosion-resisting steel). If aluminum screen cloth is used it shall be protected by a heavier reinforcing screen. The screen cloth shall be locked in place by a clamping band. The clamping band shall be formed from a single piece of aluminum.
3.2 NSF International compliance. Prior to approval of first shipment, the contractor shall submit to the contracting officer or his authorized representative satisfactory evidence that the items offered meet the applicable requirements of NSF International Standard No. 2 or Criteria C-2.
