3. SALIENT CHARACTERISTICS
3.1 Material. The blade shall be molded from natural rubber, synthetic rubber, or a combination thereof. The blade shall have a shore durometer hardness of 65 to 70. The handle shall be manufactured from a suitable plastic. The raw materials and finished scrapers shall conform to the applicable requirements of the Federal Food, Drug and Cosmetic Act as Amended: Title 21, CFR Subchapter B, parts 170 to 198.
3.2 Construction. The overall length of the scraper shall be 13-5/8 inches +1/2 inch (34.6 cm + 1.3 cm). The length of the blade shall be 4-5/8 inches + 1/4 inches (11.75 cm + 0.6 cm). The width of the blade shall be 3 inches +1/4 inch (7.6 cm + 0.6 cm.) The blade thickness section gradually tapering to a minimum thickness of 0.095 inch (2.4 mm ). The four blade corners shall be rounded. The front bottom corner shall have a radius of 1-1/4 inches + 1/8 inch (3.2 cm + 0.3 cm). The handle shall be molded to the blade. The handle edges shall be rounded. The handle shall have a smooth finish. The color of the scraper shall be white.
3.3 Marking. The scrapers shall be marked with the manufacturer’s name, trade name, or trademark of such known character that the source of the scraper may be readily determined.
