Responsibility for inspection. Unless otherwise specified in the contract or purchase order, the supplier is responsible for the performance of all inspection requirements as specified herein. Except as otherwise specified, the supplier may utilize his own facilities or any commercial laboratory acceptable to the Government. Inspection records of the examinations or tests shall be kept complete and available to the Government as specified in the contract or purchase order. The Government reserves the right to perform any of the inspections set forth in the CID where such inspections are deemed necessary to assure that supplies and services conform to prescribed requirements.
Inspection of the end item. Sampling shall be in accordance with MIL-STD-105, Sampling Procedures and Tables for Inspection by Attributes. The inspection lot shall consist of all rolling pins of one type offered for inspection at one time. The sample unit shall be one rolling pin.
The visual examination of the rolling pin shall be for the finish, splits, splinters, fillers, wormholes on roller surface, not correct species of wood, and broken, missing, or not-glued handles. The inspection level shall be level II with an acceptable quality level (AQL) of 2.5 percent defects expressed in terms of percent defective.
The dimensions and strength tests shall be inspection level S-2 with an AQL 4.0 percent defective expressed in terms of defects per hundred units. Any non-conformance to the requirements shall be classified as a defect.
The body diameter of the rolling pin shall be measured around the circumference at each end at the center to determine compliance.
Lay the rolling pin on a level surface. Attempt to insert a 1/16-inch feeler gage between the roller body and the surface at each end and the center of the body to compliance.
Clamp the rolling pin in a horizontal position and suspend a 75-pound weight from the center of each handle for three minutes. Remove the weights and examine the rolling pin for compliance with the handle requirements specified.
Preservation, packaging, packing, labeling, and marking. The preservation, packaging, packing, labeling, and marking shall be as specified in the contract or purchase order.
