COMMERCIAL ITEM DESCRIPTION
PANS; CAKE, MUFFIN, AND PUDDING
The General Services Administration has authorized the use of this
Commercial Item Description for all Federal agencies.
1. SCOPE
1.1 Scope. This commercial item description covers pans used for cakes, muffins, and pudding.
2. CLASSIFICATION
2.1 Classification. The pans shall be of the following types and styles.
Type I- Round cake pan
Type II- Muffin pan
Style A- Lock seamed, heavy duty
Style B- One-piece
Type III- Pudding pan, 3 quart
3. SALIENT CHARACTERISTICS
3.1 Design and Construction.
3.1.1 Type I, Round cake pan. The cake pan shall be formed seamless from a single piece of 3000 series aluminum with a minimum thickness of 0.030 inch (0.76 mm). The round pan shall have a top outside diameter of 9 inches (22.9 cm), plus 5/8 inch (1.6 cm), minus 1/8 inch (0.3 cm). The pan shall have a top inside diameter of 8-1/2 inches (21.6 cm), plus 5/8 inch (1.6 cm), minus 1/8 inch (0.3 cm). The bottom outside diameter shall be 8 inches (20.3 cm) minimum. The outside vertical depth of the pan shall be 1-1/2 inches (3.8 cm) minimum. The top edge of the pan shall have a rolled bead.
3.1.2 Type II, Muffin pan. The muffin pans shall be formed from 3000 series aluminum or aluminized steel with a minimum thickness of 0.040 inch (1.0 mm). Both style pans shall have 12 muffin cups. The overall dimensions of the pans shall be 10-5/8 by 13-7/8 inches (27.0 x 35.2 cm) with tolerances of plus or minus 1 inch (2.5 cm). The muffin cups shall have a top inside diameter of 2-3/4 inches (7.0 cm), bottom inside diameter of 2 inches (5.1 cm) , and inside depth on the slant of 1–3/f inches (3.5 cm); tolerances of plus or minus 1/4 inch (6.4 mm) for each. The edges of the pans shall have a rolled bead.
