3. PACKAGING
3.1 Packaging and packing. Packaging and packing shall be commercial or export as specified (see 4.2).
3.2 Commercial packaging and packing. Each cookie cutter set shall be cleaned, preserved, packaged, packed, and unitized in accordance with ASTM D 3951.
3.3 Export packaging and packing.
3.3.1 Export packaging. Each cookie cutter set shall be cleaned, preserved, and cushioned to protect against corrosion, deterioration, and physical damage during shipping and storage. Each cookie cutter set shall be packaged in a plastic bag. Twelve cookie cutter set shall be packaged in a paperboard to create an intermediate package.
3.3.2 Export packing. Seventy-two cookie cutter sets shall be packed in a fiberboard box constructed, closed and reinforced to conform to grade V3C, V3s, or V4s. style RSC of PPP-B-636. Reinforcement shall be limited to nonmetallic strapping or pressure-sensitive adhesive filament reinforced tape.
3.3.3 Palletization. When specified (see 4.2), shipping containers shall be palletized in accordance with MIL-STD-147.
3.4 Labeling (commercial and export). Commercial labeling shall be acceptable.
3.5 Marking (commercial and export). Marking of the unit packs, shipping containers, and unit loads shall be in accordance with MIL-STD-129 or ASTM D 3951, as applicable.
4. NOTES
4.1 Intended use. The cookie cutter sets are intended for use in fixed messes, field kitchens and galleys.
4.2 Ordering data. Acquisition documents should specify the following:
a. Title, number and date of this document.
b. Selection of applicable levels of packaging and packing (see 3.1).
c. When palletization of shipping containers is required (see 3.3.3).
