Dimensional and test inspection. The vacuum bottles shall be sampled for the heat retention test and capacity using an inspection level of S-2 with an AQL of 2.5 defects per hundred units.
Heat retention test. The complete vacuum bottle shall be filled with water at a temperature of 205 + 2 degrees Fahrenheit, the stopper secured and allowed to stabilize for 10 minutes. The water shall then be emptied and the bottle refilled with water at a temperature of 205 + 2 degrees Fahrenheit and the stopper secured. Following not less than 6 hours storage in an ambient temperature of 68 to 72 degrees Fahrenheit, the temperature of the contents shall be measured and shall be 170 degrees Fahrenheit or greater for compliance for sizes 1 and 2 and 159 degrees Fahrenheit or greater for size 3.
Capacity. The capacity shall be measured by filling the bottle to stopper height with water poured from a graduated cylinder.
Inspection for preparation and delivery. An inspection shall be made to determine whether the packaging, packing, and marking comply with the requirements of the contract or purchase order. Examination for defects shall be in accordance with Table II. For examination of interior packaging, the sample unit shall be one shipping container fully prepared for delivery. Sampling shall be in accordance with MIL-sTD-105. The lot size shall be the number of shipping containers in the end item inspection lot. The inspection level shall be S-2 with an AQL of 4.0 defects per hundred units.
