COMMERCIAL ITEM DESCRIPTION

DOUBLE BOILER, 3 QUART

The General Services Administration has authorized the use of this

Commercial Item Description in lieu of Federal Specification RR-B-500.

This commercial item description covers a 3-quart double boiler for institutional and domestic use.

Salient characteristics.

                The inside pan shall have a capacity of 3-quart and the outside pan, 4-3/8 quart. Each shall seamless from a single piece of aluminum. The pans shall have a nominal thickness of .040 inch.

                Both pans shall be provided with a long handle, formed from a single from a single piece of stainless steel or plated steel 0.050 inch nominal thickness by not less than 1 inch wide.

                The cover shall be formed seamless from a single piece of aluminum. The covers shall have a nominal thickness of 0.32 inch be filled with a plastic knob securely attached at its center.

                Workmanship. All sharp edges, burrs, rust, scratches, and tool marks shall be removed. There shall be no defects which may affect serviceability, durability, or appearance.

Certification. The contractor shall certify that the product offered meets the salient characteristics of this description and that the product conforms to the producer’s own drawings, specifications, standards and quality assurance practices and is the same product offered for sale in the commercial marketplace. The Government reserves the right to require proof of such conformance prior to first delivery and thereafter as may be otherwise provided for under the provisions of the contract.

Recovered materials. The manufacturer shall utilize recovered materials to the maximum extent practicable.

Packaging, packing, and marking. The packaging and packing shall be in accordance with normal commercial practice and shall assure acceptance by common carrier and provide product protection against loss and damage during multiple shipments, handling, and storage. The shipping container shall be in compliance with National Motor Freight Classification and Uniform Freight Classification. Marking shall be in accordance with the contract or order.
