COMMERCIAL ITEM DESCRIPTION
BOWL, FOOD MIXING, CORROSION-RESISTING STEEL
The General Services Administration has authorized the use of this commercial item description in preference to Military Specification MIL-B-2054E.
1. CLASSIFICATION
1.1 Classification. This commercial item description covers two sizes of corrosion resisting steel food mixing bowls (see 5.2).
Size 1 – 7-1/2 gallons
Size 2 – 20 gallons
1.2 CID based part identification number (PIN). A document based PIN to identify types of items is included in section 5. This identification numbering procedure is for Government purposes and does not constitute a requirement for the contractor.
2. SALIENT CHARACTERISTICS
2.1 Design and construction. The bowls shall be round with smooth spherical surfaces except that the bottom may be flat. The bowls shall be formed from a single sheet of stainless steel and shall be seamless and without welds. The bowls shall have an evenly rolled bead or flange designed to facilitate carrying of filled bowls. The bowls shall be fabricated from type 304 stainless steel. The capacity and diameter tolerance for the bowls shall be as specified in table I.
