COMMERCIAL ITEM DESCRIPTION
FOOD TURNER (PERFORATED BLADE)
The General Services Administration has authorized the use of this
Commercial Item Description in preference to Federal Specification
RR-F-575, Type II.
This commercial item description covers one type of perforated blade food turner.
Salient characteristics:
Shall have a polypropylene plastic handle.
Shall have a stainless steel blade and shank.
Blade shall have a Rockwell hardness between C 30 and C 45.
Handle shall have a hole at the end for hanging.
Overall length shall be 12-1/2 inches minimum.
Blade width shall be 3-inches minimum at the widest point.
Blade length shall be 4-1/4 inches minimum.
Blade thickness shall be .018 + .005 inch.
Rivets shall be stainless steel.
Workmanship. The finished turners shall be clean, well made, and free from any defects which may affect appearance or serviceability.
Certification. The contractor shall certify that the product offered meets the salient characteristics of this description, and that the product conforms to the producer’s own drawings, specifications, standards, and quality assurance practices, and is the same product sold in the commercial marketplace. The Government reserves the right to require proof of such conformance prior to first delivery and thereafter as maybe otherwise provided for under the provisions of the contract.
Regulatory requirements. The manufacturer shall utilize recovered materials to the maximum extent practicable.
Packaging, packing, and marking. The items shall be packaged in accordance with normal commercial practice and packed to assure acceptance by common carrier and provide product protection against loss and damage during multiple shipments, handling, and storage. The shipping container shall be in compliance with National Motor Freight Classification and Uniform Freight Classification. Shipping containers shall be marked as specified in the contractor order.
