COMMERCIAL ITEM DESCRIPTION
DREDGER, KITCHEN
The General Services Administration has authorized the use of this
Commercial Item Description in lieu of Federal Specification RR-B-623.
This commercial item description covers dredgers used for sprinkling flour, etc, in kitchens.
Salient characteristics:
Fabricated from either aluminum or stainless steel.
Nominal height of 3-7/8 inch and a nominal diameter of 2-7/8 inch.
Body formed seamless from aluminum with a minimum thickness of 0.028 inch or stainless steel with a minimum thickness of 0.022 inch. Top edge of the body formed with a bayonet-type lock to attach the cover or roll threaded to provide for fit or screw-on cover.
Cover formed seamless with either a bayonet-type lock or roller-threads, as applicable, and provided with approximately 150-0.070 inch nominal diameter holes. Cover may be two gages thinner than body thickness.
Shall include a handle the same thickness as the body.
Aluminum surfaces shall have a hard, white, lustrous, anodized finished.
Must have National Sanitation Foundation (NSF) approval or certification by an independent testing laboratory acceptable to the GSA indicating that the same model that is being furnished under this description has been inspected and tested and conforms to NSF Standard No.2.
Workmanship. The dredger shall be free from rough or sharp edges, burrs, slivers, nicks, gouges, scratches or abrasions. There shall be no defects which may affect serviceability, durability or appearance.
The issue of the NSF standard in effect on the date of the solicitation shall be used to determine compliance with stated requirements.
Certification. The contractor shall certify that the product offered meets the salient characteristics of this description and that the product conforms to the producer’s own drawings, specifications, standards and quality assurance practices and is the same product offered for sale in the commercial marketplace. The Government reserves the right to require proof of such conformance prior to first delivery and thereafter as may be otherwise provided for under the provisions of the contract.
Recovered materials. The manufacturer shall utilize recovered materials to the maximum extent practicable.
Packaging, packing, and marking. The packaging and packing shall be in accordance with normal commercial practice and shall assure acceptance by common carrier and provide product protection against loss and damage during multiple shipments, handling, and storage. The shipping container shall be in compliance with National Motor Freight Classification and Uniform Freight Classification. Marking shall be in accordance with the contract or order.
